Our Wrestlers sculpture is a reduction after the ancient Roman original, copy of a lost Greek sculpture circa 300 BC. The Roman original is currently located in the Uffizi collection in Florence, Italy. This sculpture depicts 2 young athletes engaged in the pankration, a type of wrestling similar to the present-day sport of MMA (mixed martial arts). An incredibly detailed sculpture of masculine and muscular bodies. Wrestling is one of the five competitive sports in ancient Greece and has a long tradition. This exquisite sculpture is handed down to the world as a perfect proof. The artistic modeling of the sculpture is very vivid. An athlete is riding on the back of another athlete, but the athlete below is waiting for the opportunity to fight back. The whole body structure is fit, plump and full of strength, giving people a rich aesthetic feeling.
